Four people were killed and several others injured on Sunday when a vehicle taking part in a rally in Hungary crashed into spectators after going off the road, authorities said.
The accident occurred between the towns of Labatlan and Bajot, in the Komarom Esztergom region (north of the country). The report communicated by the police shows at least four dead and seven injured.
The reasons for the exit from the road, a Skoda Fabia Rally 2 according to local media, have not been established, according to a police press release. On the video posted by the RTL.hu site, we see the vehicle being driven at full speed in a straight line on a wet road. The trajectory of the car seems disturbed, perhaps after having bitten the shoulder and the lawn. The car then skids for several tens of meters before hitting spectators on the side of the road.
Eight ambulances and four rescue helicopters were dispatched to the scene, says RTL.hu. The Esztergom Nyerges rally was immediately stopped following this accident.
