PSG: the Ultras chant “Hidalgo resignation” again before the 8th against Real Sociedad

The ultras of Paris SG once again chanted “Hidalgo resignation” before the match against Real Sociedad in the Champions League at the Parc des Princes, the day after the complaint announced by the mayor and the City of Paris for sexist and homophobic insults during the match against Lille. These supporters, placed in the Auteuil stand, displayed two large black banners on which was written “Hidalgo get out, pack up, you are making us too angry”. They then sang “Hidalgo resignation”. A way of contesting the refusal of the mayor of Paris to sell the Parc des Princes to the club.

But unlike Saturday, before and during the match against Lille in Ligue 1, when the speaker had to speak to calm them down, the supporters did not utter insults towards the councilor. On Tuesday, the City of Paris indicated that it had taken legal action after homophobic chants and sexist insults from PSG ultras targeting Anne Hidalgo. The latter will, moreover, file a complaint in his name for “public insult” with the filing of a civil suit and the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) will also be seized.

On Thursday, the president of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, said he wanted to leave the Parc des Princes in the face of the Paris town hall's refusal to sell him the venue. The Parisian club, engaged until the end of 2043 in a thirty-year long lease with the City, owner, considers the acquisition of the stadium essential to carry out its expansion project to 60,000 seats, compared to around 48,000 currently. For months, the situation has continued to become tense in the face of the persistent blockage of the file.
