OM: “Start by shutting up”, the scathing press release from the South Winners after the tifo for Bougheraba

Mini-crisis at Olympique de Marseille. Sunday, before the defeat of the Olympian club against Paris SG (0-2), a tifo was deployed in the Ganay stand. It featured the Champions League trophy, won by OM in 1993, and, in front, the comedian and actor Redouane Bougheraba, wearing an OM jersey. The tifo, orchestrated by the South Winners, was strongly criticized, especially since no tribute was paid to former president Pape Diouf, whose 4th anniversary was celebrated on March 31.

The South Winners reacted with a press release on Tuesday evening. “Given the extent of the latest counter debates, we would like to clarify the situation,” thunder the South Winners, outraged at having to “justify our daily lives as Marseillais and supporters of OM for 37 years”.

The group castigates “lesson givers”, those who “divert and communicate false information” and seek to “destabilize our club but above all attack our group”. “Start by shutting up,” invite the South Winners. The latter even believe that Pape Diouf, “if he were still in this world, would be delighted at the idea of a Marseillais from outside OM filling the Vélodrome on June 22”. This will be the case for Bougheraba, who will be the first comedian to perform at the Vélodrome.

“What we understood in this propaganda following this tifo is that it is indeed the Marseille identity which is being called into question within the Vélodrome itself. So we call on our people not to enter into this vast charade which undermines our values,” the press release continues. “Don’t try to interfere with the Winners Family because you have a shit mentality,” the group concludes, asserting that “your hatred makes us proud.”

The South Winners were also criticized for having erected this tifo as a side stand, and not as a corner. Bougheraba, a native of Marseilles, is one of the protagonists of the series “LOL: who laughs, comes out!” broadcast on Amazon Prime Video, also broadcaster of the match between OM and PSG. According to RMC Sport, Olympian president Pablo Longoria would have been furious not to have been informed of the planned tifo. “It makes me laugh,” commented Bougheraba himself, defending the presence of the tifo during the meeting.
