The Vélodrome stadium did not have its best evening on Sunday, and is not having its best tomorrow either. A way to silence PSG which has been chasing the famous big-eared cup for years. The latter has been the pride of OM since 1993, the year of the one and only European coronation for a French club.
But what surprised and sparked controversy was the man represented in front of the trophy: the actor and humorist Redouane Bougheraba. Born in Marseille, he has emerged in recent years as one of the local figures. The tribute surprised many other supporters on social media. “(Steve) Mandanda stayed for 89 years, he didn't have a tifo, but Redouane Bougheraba has the right to him,” wondered the influencer Lino Treize on X (ex-Twitter), in a tweet with more than 3,000 mentions "I like".
If the tifo is going so badly, it is mainly because OM celebrated a sad anniversary on Sunday: the four years since the death of Pape Diouf, emblematic president of the club (2004-2009). No tribute was paid to him in the stands. “The saddest thing in all of this is that (Eric) Gerets, the most notable coach of the Diouf era, was at the stadium,” lamented user Guy Truite on day after the death of Pape Diouf, we took the trouble to do a story on Redouane Bougheraba,” wondered journalist Tidiany M'Bo in a video seen 175,000 times.
The L’Olympien account, 42,000 subscribers on X, denounced an “aberration” and criticized a “sponsored” tifo. Bougheraba is one of the comedians seen in the series “LOL: who laughs, comes out!” broadcast on Amazon Prime Video, also broadcaster of the match between OM and PSG. Bougheraba, 46, will also be performing at the Vélodrome on June 22. He will be the first comedian to occupy the stadium. The main person concerned did not react directly to the tifo, contenting himself with resharing videos or publications on Instagram praising the entertainment in the stands.
