OM: Longoria will file a defamation complaint against a journalist from RMC radio

“The deception eventually came to light.” Stéphane Guy pulled out all the stops on Tuesday, in the show “L’After Foot”, on RMC. Our colleague drew up an uncompromising assessment of Pablo Longoria's action at the head of OM, before the Europa League play-off against Donetsk. Or even a little more than that. Which was not to the taste of the person concerned. The Marseille club explains in a press release published this Thursday that it “read with shock the comments made” by our colleague on RMC and announces a legal response. “OM informs that, following the slanderous and defamatory accusations made against him, Pablo Longoria immediately contacted his counsel to file a defamation complaint,” we explain.

Earlier, the owner of OM Frank McCourt had provided, “alongside the Supervisory Board”, his “support” for its president, denouncing in another press release “irresponsible and unfounded comments. The leadership, commitment and sincerity of the president of Olympique de Marseille have been demonstrated numerous times since he took office in February 2021.”

“The fish is rotten from the head in football as in everything else. At the moment, Longoria is lost, we feel that there is no head at OM, indicated Stéphane Guy as a preamble. It was already very contested at the time when it was not contestable… So now that it is more than contested, it is less and less indisputable.” And to continue: “He no longer gets through the criticism. Now, he is still one of the designated targets, the deception has finally come to light. When he leaves OM, will the club be richer before than after, or will he be richer before than after? To answer the question is to understand what happened during Longoria's visit. It is these accusations about Longoria's personal enrichment which do not pass muster in Marseille.
