NFL: a Broncos player suspended at least all next season for bets

Denver Broncos defenseman Eyioma Uwazurike will miss at least the entire next NFL season after being banned for betting games last season, the American Football League announced on Monday. The NFL said Uwazurike was suspended indefinitely for placing bets on games in violation of league gambling rules. According to a statement, Uwazurike will not be able to seek reinstatement in the league until July 24, 2024 at the earliest.

Uwazurike, 25, made eight appearances for the Broncos last year, in his freshman season, after being picked in the fourth round of the 2022 draft, with the 116th overall pick. He is one of several NFL players who have been suspended recently for violating strict league rules prohibiting player gambling.

Both Indianapolis players Isaiah Rodgers and Rashod Berry were suspended last month, as was free agent Demetrius Taylor. Four members of the Detroit Lions were suspended in April, along with a member of the Washington Commanders.
