Nations League: Ansu Fati called up to the Spain team

FC Barcelona striker Ansu Fati has been called up by Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente to replace injured Nico Williams for the final four of the Nations League scheduled for mid-June in the Netherlands, the Spanish federation announced on Monday evening in a press release.

Nico Williams (20), Athletic Bilbao player, was replaced on Sunday in the 64th minute of play during the 38th and final day of La Liga, on the lawn of Real Madrid (1-1).

At 20 too, Ansu Fati already has seven selections. If he was less prominent than the youngest of the Williams brothers (8 selections) at the World Cup in Qatar, Fati will have a chance to catch up in mid-June in the Netherlands.

Spain will play the Nations League final four alongside Croatia, Italy and the Netherlands in Rotterdam and Enschede from June 14-18.

La Roja will meet from Friday at their base camp in Las Rozas, northwest of Madrid. They will face Italy on June 15 in the second semi-final in Enschede, one day after Netherlands - Croatia.

The winners will meet in the final in Rotterdam on June 18.
