Trackhouse will replace the RNF team in MotoGP next year, Aprilia's satellite formation this season but excluded from the 2024 championship, the American team announced on Tuesday.
Trackhouse Racing, already involved in Nascar, the popular North American stock car championship, will therefore become Aprilia's new satellite team and will retain as drivers the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira and the Spaniard Raul Fernandez - who were competing this season at RNF.
This announcement comes a week after the MotoGP selection committee announced to exclude RNF for the 2024 season. In question: “repeated offenses and violations of the Participation Agreement affecting the public image of MotoGP”, indicated the organizers of the championship in a press release published the day after the last Grand Prix of the season, in Valencia at the end of November.
Since then, the governing bodies of the discipline have said they are studying the applications in order to find a new satellite team for Aprilia. Before its exclusion, RNF, affiliated with Yamaha until the end of 2022 before arriving in the Aprilia fold, had notably welcomed the 2021 world champion Fabio Quartararo during his first two seasons in MotoGP in 2019 and 2020. The Frenchman had joined the following year the official Yamaha team, with whom he was crowned world champion in 2021.
The 2024 MotoGP season begins on March 10 in Qatar.
