In front of an audience as strong – more than 40,000 spectators – as enthusiastic, the French team won the 76th Motocross of Nations this Sunday. On the Ernée track – in Mayenne – and despite competition that was very ambitious to say the least, Romain Febvre, Tom Vialle and Maxime Renaux, announced as favorites before the weekend, did not tremble to allow France to win for the 7th time the most anticipated MX competition of the year.
The Blues dominated their subject in the three races on their program. Engaged in the MXGP category, winner of the Motocross des Nations here in 2015, Romain Febvre won in the first round against the Spaniard Jorge Prado, before finishing 7th in the last debate. Double MX2 World Champion, Tom Vialle caused a sensation on the smallest engine in the race as he finished 8th in the first round and 2nd in the last race in which he was entered. Two results which allowed him to win the MX2 category. Finally, the third man entered and also crowned with an individual world title, Maxime Renaux won the Open category with 2nd and 3rd places.
France therefore returns to victory on its lands ahead of Australia and Italy. The last time the French team won was in 2018 in the United States. “Come on, I’m so happy! We were waiting for that, so to make it a success and offer that to the public is the best gift we could give them,” reacted Maxime Renaux to the daily Ouest-France. Next year, the 77th Motocross of Nations will be held in Great Britain, for the third time on the Matterley Basin circuit.
