Moto GP: Qatar Grand Prix qualifying postponed from Friday to Saturday

The qualifying tests for the Qatar Grand Prix in MotoGP, initially scheduled for Friday evening, have been postponed to Saturday, announced the championship promoter, due to the rain that fell earlier in the evening on the Lusail track. This session, which determines who will go through the “draft” box before playing for pole position, will take place from 1:40 p.m. to 2:25 p.m. local and will last 45 minutes – 15 less than expected.

The slowest drivers will return to the track immediately to compete in a first qualifying session (Q1), of which the two fastest will defend their chance in Q2 to win pole, alongside the ten fastest drivers in practice. With this change of program, the second free practice session, originally scheduled for Saturday, was brought forward in place of the qualifying practices. Everyone took to the track shortly after 8:00 p.m. local time for a 45-minute session without any challenges. The Qatar GP is the first round of the Moto GP season. The sprint race is scheduled for Saturday at 7:00 p.m., before the traditional Grand Prix on Sunday at 8:00 p.m.
