West Bromwich Albion have announced on their website the signing of 33-year-old French midfielder Yann M'Vila on a short-term contract until the end of the season. Former Olympiakos player alongside Carlos Corberán in 2022, M'Vila “will bring his European and international experience” to the Championship club.

Yann M'Vila, who previously worked with Carlos Corberán at Olympiakos in 2022, has extensive experience at several clubs across Europe, including Rennes, Rubin Kazan, Inter Milan, Sunderland and Saint-Étienne. He also wore the French team jersey 22 times, notably participating in UEFA EURO 2012. He will wear the number 22 in the Baggies colors.

In reaction to his arrival, M'Vila expressed his joy at reuniting with Carlos Corberán, emphasizing the importance of their pre-existing relationship. “I know the manager Carlos Corberán very well and he knows me very well because we have already worked together in Greece at Olympiakos. It was a pleasure to work with him and I’m really happy to be back with him now,” rejoices Yann M’Vila.

For his part, Carlos Corberán highlighted the importance of this signing to strengthen the team's midfield options. “We recorded an injury to Jayson Molumby and that left us with fewer options than we would like in the middle. Yann is a really positive option to have. He comes with a lot of experience and with a lot of desire and motivation to help us.” Corberán noted that one would have to be patient with M'Vila in terms of physical condition.

West Bromwich Albion are in fifth place in the EFL Championship, 14 points behind 4th place, and aim to move up to the Premier League this season.
