Belgian striker Cyril Ngonge has left Verona, his club since 2023, to join Naples, the reigning Italian champion announced on Friday. Neither the amount of the transfer nor the duration of the contract have been specified, but according to the specialist press, Napoli paid twenty million euros, which makes this operation the most expensive in Italy during this winter transfer window.
Ngonge, trained at Club Bruges, has been playing in Italy since January 2023. He has scored eleven goals in 33 Serie A matches for Verona, including six this season. The 23-year-old striker is, after the Italian Pasquale Mazzocchi (Salernitana) and the Ivorian Hamed Traoré (Bournemouth), the third recruit since the start of the month for Napoli, stuck in 8th place in the Italian Championship, at twenty points from the leader, Inter.
