Revelation of the start of the season, Toulouse goalkeeper Guillaume Restes (18 years old) has extended his lease with his training club until 2028, announced the TFC. Turning professional at just 16 years old, in 2021, the native of the Pink City was initially linked with the club until 2026.
Promoted to number one goalkeeper at the start of the season, Restes played all thirteen matches for Toulouse in L1 and the Europa League. “It was a childhood dream and I took it with great pleasure and desire,” he recently explained when describing his first steps among professionals, he who was still playing in National 3 (5th level) last season.
His very convincing start to the season won over Thierry Henry, new coach of the Espoirs. Holder during the four international matches played under the mandate of the former top scorer of the Blues, Restes even inherited the captain's armband in the last minutes of the match against Cyprus, counting for the Euro 2025 qualifiers, on the 17 last October.
“Guillaume is calm. I have the impression that he has 200 L1 matches,” Thierry Henry recently said of him, praising his “maturity”. Toulouse is ranked 12th in Ligue 1 after 10 days, and 3rd in its Europa League group halfway through the group stage with a victory, a draw and a defeat.
