Twelve RC Lens supporters denounced pat-downs suffered at the entrance to the Océane stadium in Le Havre, on the sidelines of a Ligue 1 match between the two teams on October 20 (0-0). The complaints for “sexual assault” were dismissed, as revealed by L’Équipe on Tuesday. To which RC Lens reacted a few hours later.
“Following the dismissal of complaints for sexual assault filed by twelve Sang et Or supporters after the pat-downs carried out at the Océane stadium, the Racing Club de Lens maintains its support for its supporters. In the absence of formal proof, this court decision was motivated by the fact that “the investigations do not make it possible to establish an intentional element characterizing the sexual assault,” declared the northern club.
“If justice has ruled on the events in Le Havre, Racing, which advocates mixed and universal support, remains particularly mobilized. The club invites any future alleged victim to immediately contact a member of its organizational or security team,” added RC Lens, who affirms that it “will always place itself on the side of the victims.” According to L'Équipe, in addition to the twelve Lensoises, another supporter from Brest and one from Lille filed a complaint for the same reasons in Le Havre, following matches prior to that between the Norman club and Lens.
