Ligue 1: Lens and Le Havre back to back

No winner in Le Havre. Despite a false joy in the last seconds for the northern visitors, with a goal from Florian Sotoca refused... due to an offside position, Lens and Le Havre separated with a score of parity (0-0) this Friday, at Stade Océane, at the opening of the 9th day of Ligue 1.

In an Océane stadium filled with 25,000 supporters, and for the first time sold out, the Le Havre team took around ten minutes to get into their game. Feverish at the kick-off, they almost paid dearly for the first Lensois highlight but Diouf (4th) then Saïd (5th) missed (barely) the opener. Lens seemed set for clear domination, easily finding the gaps on the right wing guarded by Aguilar. The storm passed without consequence, the HAC finally released the horses in attack. Alioui (14th) then Kuzaiev (16th) lit the first fuses from afar before clearer situations for Bayo (25th, 35th) then Sabbi (27th). This same Sabbi could have obtained a penalty from contact with Samba, author of a muscular fist exit from six meters (38th), but the VAR did not flinch. Nervous and late in the duels, the Sang et Or collected yellow cards (Diouf, Danso and Frankowski warned in the first period), with the only Saïd showing himself dangerous in front of Desmas (31st).

The injured Opéri side, Luka Elsner was forced to start Loïc Nego earlier than expected. A forced but welcome change as the Hungarian international, with his speed and dribbling, put the Artesian left side to torture as soon as he entered the field. All (or almost) of the HAC's offensives came through him, particularly during a second period that was indecisive until the end.

Very well in place to hamper the Lensois game, the Ciel et Marine operated in a rapid attack, under the leadership of number 10 Nabil Alioui. Despite greater control over the minutes, RC Lens scared themselves on several occasions but their defensive leaders were on guard. Samba captured Bayo's header (60th) then Danso made the gesture of the match, a saving tackle in front of his line on a shot from Casimir (71st). Nego did not put his header on target in the process, unlike Sotoca, on the other side, forcing Desmas into a reflex save (73rd).

Pushed by its public, the HAC cowered in the last quarter of an hour to preserve the draw. The Sang et Or tried to make the difference thanks to the entrants. The young El Aynaoui came very close to deliverance (89th). And a few seconds later, it was Sotoca who thought he would give the visitors success with a header (92nd), ruining all the efforts of Le Havre. The latter were saved, on the gong, by the help of the VAR, signaling an offside from Guilavogui at the start of the action. The Stade Océane could let its joy burst forth, the promoted Norman pocketed a deserved point against the last runner-up of PSG, who will now turn to the Champions League and the reception of PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday at Bollaert.

Before the rest of the Ligue 1 weekend, Le Havre appears in 11th place in the standings with 10 points while Lens is standing still in 14th place, with 9 points on the clock. On the menu Saturday, PSG-Strasbourg at 5 p.m. and a clash between Nice and OM at 9 p.m. The Monegasque leader will host Metz on Sunday (5:05 p.m.).
