Here is Amandine Henry again, two and a half years later. Scorer on Friday against Austria (3-0) to qualify the French team for the Final Four of the Nations League, the midfielder is relishing her return to the Blues, she who had been put in the closet under the era Corinne Deacon and victim of a long depression. The 34-year-old player, who will celebrate her 99th selection on Tuesday evening against Portugal, also returned to this difficult episode in an interview with L'Équipe.
“Things have changed a lot lately, between my long absence from the French team, then the return in June with the confidence of Hervé Renard, unfortunately followed by this injury (left calf) which deprived me of the World Cup . Then I had to manage my difficult departure from OL, the return to the United States (to Angel City FC)… It was all a huge emotional lift, and I took a step back,” Henry first declared .

Before adding: “At that moment, I could no longer sort through my emotions, move forward. I was brooding. Finally out of a dark period, the former Lyon player welcomed her return to the French team. “All I need is a title with the Blues, and I will be the happiest in the world. Wearing this jersey with the rooster is already such a joy. I tell myself that each match could be the last, I try to earn my place. Now I just want to enjoy it. My career is more behind than ahead, the track record is there, except with the French team. I’m focused on that.”
Amandine Henry will once again try to find the net this Tuesday evening against Portugal, in order to help Hervé Renard's Bleues reach the final of the Final Four of the Nations League, before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which are fast approaching.
