Football: beaten on penalties, Senegal requests the disqualification of France from the U17 World Cup

Senegal counterattacks. Dominant but beaten by the French team (0-0, 3-5 on penalties) in the round of 16 of the 2017 World Cup, this Wednesday, the Senegalese demanded the disqualification of the Bleuets 24 hours later. In an official press release distributed by Sports News Africa, the Senegalese federation (FSF) denounces the presence in the French group of Yanis Issoufou, who participated in the first three matches in the group stage, against Burkina Faso (3-0) , South Korea (1-0) and the United States (3-0), before being absent from the match sheet yesterday.

Senegal follows in the footsteps of Burkina Faso which also filed a similar appeal against the Montpellier striker after his defeat against France. For good reason, the 17-year-old player wore the colors of Niger during the CAN U17 qualifiers, qualifiers for this World Cup. Relying on FIFA regulations, the Senegalese federation indicates that Yanis Issoufou “could no longer play for France” since a player “is not authorized to play for his new association in any competition in which he has already participated with his former association. The FSF, which underlines the ineligibility of Bleuet, therefore requests the exclusion of the team coached by Jean-Luc Vannuchi.

But according to information from RMC Sport, France U17 should not be disqualified from the tournament. Following Burkina Faso's protest a few days ago, FIFA ruled out this hypothesis by explaining that a reservation was admissible if sent five days before the start of the competition. In which case, the Bleuets would not be worried and will play their quarter-final, scheduled against Uzbekistan on Saturday (9:30 a.m.).
