Diving: spinal surgery, British Olympic champion Matty Lee will not go to the Olympics

British Olympic synchronized diving champion Matty Lee will not be able to defend his title in Paris after spinal surgery, he announced on social media on Wednesday.

Gold medalist in Tokyo in 2021 in the 10m diving board alongside his compatriot Tom Daley, Lee, 26, explained on Instagram that “the operation (went) well” and that she was “the good decision” even if he said he was “very sad” to miss the Paris-2024 Olympics.

“The reason I look so damn happy in the hospital is because I'm no longer in chronic pain, we found a solution and I have something to work on,” added the one who also won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games with Noah Williams.
