The Belgian Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step) won the Grand Prix de l'Escaut on Wednesday in Schoten, near Antwerp, ahead of his compatriot Jasper Philipsen, last year's winner, and the Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen in the sprint. Merlier wins his 7th victory of the season, the 41st of his career.

He takes his revenge on Philipsen, who beat him two weeks ago at the finish of the Bruges-La Panne race. First Frenchman, Hugo Hofstetter took 5th place.
