Bayern Munich, beaten 1-0 at Lazio Rome on Wednesday in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League, denounced “racist comments” targeting Dayot Upamecano on social networks after the match. In a post published on X a few minutes after the match, the Bavarian club reported “racist comments on social networks (...) absolutely despicable”.

“Bayern condemns them in the strongest possible terms. Anyone who makes such comments is not a fan of our club.” Dayot Upamecano was sent off on Wednesday in the 67th minute after a tackle on striker Gustav Isaksen, which notably resulted in the winning penalty for Lazio.
