Biathlon: Sturla Laegreid wins the individual in Oslo, Eric Perrot finishes 4th

The Norwegian Sturla Laegreid won the individual in Oslo on Friday thanks to a 20 out of 20 shooting, the Frenchman Eric Perrot finishing at the foot of the podium, by eight tenths, with a fault on the shooting range. Laegreid led a Norwegian hat-trick: he won 28 sec 5/10 ahead of Tarjei Boe and 1 min 05 sec 6/10 ahead of Vetle Christiansen, both 19 out of 20 behind the rifle.

Johannes Boe, in a good position to claim a fifth big crystal globe and recent triple world champion (pursuit, individual and mass start), finished fifth, penalized by two shooting errors, at 1 min 14 sec 9/10th . With six individual races remaining in the season, he leads the way with 851 points but the gap with his older brother Tarjei, who has 783, has narrowed significantly. In the meantime, the youngest of the Boe siblings pockets his first little globe of the winter, that of the individual.

Besides Perrot, fourth at 1 min 06 sec 4/10th from Laegreid, another Frenchman ranks in the top 10: Emilien Jacquelin, ninth at just over two minutes, with an 18 out of 20 on the shooting range. Antonin Guigonnat finished 11th, almost two and a half minutes behind despite a single mistake, and Quentin Fillon Maillet 14th with three missed targets, almost three minutes behind. Like the women's individual earlier in the day, the men's race was delayed slightly, to avoid fog on Holmenkollen Hill.
