Basketball: qualified for the Eurocup final, the Bourg-en-Bresse coach extends

Frédéric Fauthoux, at the end of his contract with Bourg-en-Bresse which he led to the final of the Basketball Eurocup (C2), has extended his lease until 2027 on the bench of the Bressan club, announced on Saturday the president of the “JL” at a press conference.

The coach's situation is therefore regularized before the Franco-French clash in the Eurocup final starting Tuesday against Paris Basketball, with the possibility of competing in the Euroleague in the event of a coronation.

Frédéric Fauthoux was courted by Asvel, where he signed a successful stint as assistant to TJ Parker between 2020 and 2022, marked by two French championship titles (2021 and 2022).

“The choice was complicated,” admitted the emblematic ex-player of Elan Béarnais. Opposite, there was a great program, a great project, the assurance of playing in the Euroleague and the title for sure and the friendship that I have with Tony (Parker), a former teammate. The equation was not easy to solve.”

Currently fourth in the regular season of the French championship, the “Game” is only one victory behind second place occupied by Paris despite a financial asymmetry (EUR 9.2 million compared to EUR 7.3 million).

“Freddy is a conqueror. If there remains, it is up to us to continue the upward curve that is ours,” announced Bressan president Julien Desbottes. “It’s additional motivation to help the club progress and ensure that it has all the necessary means.”
