French engineer Bruno Famin, hitherto executive director of the Alpine F1 team, has been promoted to director of Alpine Motorsports and appointed member of the management committee, the French firm said in a statement on Monday.

Famin, who notably worked for Peugeot Sport and the International Automobile Federation (FIA), had joined Alpine at the start of 2022, a year after the team's name change, which was previously called Renault.

"All the current managers of Alpine's motorsport activities will report to Bruno Famin," the statement said, including American Otmar Szafnauer, director of the Alpine F1 team.

Fourth in the F1 constructors' world championship standings in 2022, Alpine had a disappointing first half of the 2023 season and is currently sixth after not scoring any points on Sunday at the British GP at Silverstone.
