Australian Open: Zverev does not tremble against Michelsen and joins Norrie in 8th

Alexander Zverev (6th ATP) perfectly mastered his round of 16 match in just over two hours of play against the young American Alex Michelsen (19 years old, 91st), who defeated Jiri Lehecka (23rd) in the previous round. After a well-controlled start to the match by the German, who very quickly took control of the match (break at 1-1 then 6-2), the American woke up at the end of the second set to worry his opponent. While Zverev had the break in his pocket, leading 4-2, Michelsen came back to score but finally cracked at the end of the tie-break (he led 4-2 before conceding the last five points, 7-4) .

Stunned, the American did not recover from this missed tie-break and let the German advance in the third set with an entry break and 16 of the first 17 points of the set won. A reassuring match for the German, who had dropped a set against Koepfer, then two against Klein in the second round.

Alexander Zverev will face Cameron Norrie in the next round, who defeated Casper Ruud in four sets earlier.
