Alpine unveiled its prototype for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the future hydrogen category

The next generation of cars at the 24 Hours of Le Mans should be hydrogen. The western automobile club which organizes the legendary Le Mans event wishes to set up a category dedicated to this technology (in 2027?) and the many manufacturers currently competing in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) are already working on this assumption.

This has become a reality for Alpine, which took advantage of the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps this weekend in Belgium to present its prototype, called the Alpine Alpenglow Hy4. The car, which will complete a few laps of the track before the start of the race on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., is currently operating with three gas tanks but should soon include liquid storage in order to be more efficient. It is capable of traveling at 270 km/h, powered by a 340 hp 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder engine powered by hydrogen.

The Alpine Alpenglow Hy4 will be revealed to the public once again on Saturday June 15, between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m., before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans by driving on the Sarthe circuit. Present last year during the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the static model of the Alpine vehicle was exhibited at the Hydrogen village, organized within the circuit and dedicated to this new energy vector.
