During the repechage race on Sunday, which delivered two tickets for the Olympic Games, the relay composed of David Sombé, Gilles Biron, Ludovic Ouceni and Téo Andant only took third place, in 3 min 2 sec and 44/100, behind Brazil (3:01.86) and Trinidad and Tobago (3:02.39). The day before, the French relay did not reach the end of the race, due to the injury of its second runner, Thomas Jordier, who was forced to abandon.
There is still a chance for the 2023 world vice-champions - the only French medal from last summer - since two final places remain to be won after the world relays in Nassau, based on the results between December 31, 2022 and June 30, 2024. In Budapest, the Blues broke the French record by achieving a time of 2 min 58 sec 45/100th, behind the United States.
In the Bahamas, the four other French relays obtained their place for the Paris Games: women's and men's 4x100 m, women's 4x400 m and mixed 4x400 m. The two 4x100m relays even shone on Sunday, finishing second among the women and third among the men.
