"One Hundred Days": Emmanuel Macron once again fails to convince

They were just over 15 million on Monday evening, before Emmanuel Macron's speech. But only a handful of them were convinced, as revealed by our latest Odoxa-Backbone Consulting survey for Le Figaro. An overwhelming majority of French people (78%) even consider that the Head of State "missed" his televised intervention. “Never had Odoxa recorded such a low score,” points out the director of the institute, Céline Bracq. During his last interview, on March 22, during which he defended his pension reform, the Head of State had managed to convince 23% of French people, against 22% the day after his speech.

During his thirteen minutes of speech, Emmanuel Macron gave himself “a hundred days” to act “in the service of France”, drawing up his roadmap around three priority projects (work, justice and republican order, progress). A way for the Head of State to open a new sequence. But a majority of French people (59%) still refuse to turn the page on pensions, believing that “this is not the right time” to move forward on other subjects. They are nevertheless 39% to wish to "move on to something else" after the promulgation of the reform, on April 15th.

To maintain his course, Emmanuel Macron is counting on a "appeasement" of social dialogue, while tensions with the inter-union persist. Without wanting to "rush" the social partners, the president gave them "until the end of this year" to build "a new pact for life at work". But this method is also judged severely by the French (62%), who even consider it unrealistic (79%).

In this context, the relationship of the French to the government is negative. The ministers tested by the institute all record high levels of distrust, whether it is the Minister of Labor, Olivier Dussopt (74%), the Minister of Health, François Braun (74%) or the Keeper of the Seals , Eric Dupond-Moretti (71%). For the latter, the countdown has already started: they will have to embody, by July 14, the three priority projects of the Head of State.
