Las Vegas Casinos stay closed until officials give an all-clear

On March 17, 2020, the governor of Nevada, Hon. Steve Sisolak ordered the turning off of all the gaming devices in Los Vegas due to the outbreak of COVID-19. This order, in turn, led to the closure of casinos throughout the city. Gaming was also affected adversely since all the gas stations, taverns, and supermarkets that had gaming slot machines were either temporarily closed or turned off.  The closure will go on until the honorable Steve Sisolak announces that it is safe to have them open. But does this mean that gamers will have to wait till the announcement is made? Is online gaming also closed? Let’s find out.

What Will Be Closed

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the closure of bars, casinos, and restaurants across the country. The state officials have also ordered the closure of places that hosts large gatherings of people. Reports from the American Gaming Association show that 98% of gaming facilities and properties all over the United States closed due to the pandemic. These statistics show the closure of around 973 tribal and commercial casinos. The shutdown has affected more than 600,000 casino game employees. A rule of closing restaurants and casinos for 30 days was ordered. It is sad, right?

What Remain Open

>While 98% of gaming facilities have closed down, 2% of these facilities remain open. Some> social amenities that will stay open in Los Vegas include:

  • Caesars Entertainment – it consists of the Caesars Palace, Bally’s Las Vegas, the Cromwell, Flamingo Las Vegas, Harrah’s Las Vegas, and the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas
  • SAHARA Las Vegas – the management of Sahara said that they would be open but not as usual. They said that they would work on reducing the operating hours of their resort and outlet amenities.
  • Rampart Casino – the casino and its property remain open. They have, however, increased their efforts of sanitization and social distancing.

How long can companies survive?

The timeframe that the pandemic will last is unknown. The length of time that the gaming industry will survive and get back to normal will be dependent on the time the pandemic will come to an end. The state of the gaming industry will get back to its full health after the outbreak of the disease. For instance, 60,000 workers of Culinary Union Local 226 had to go out of work. The management of the organization, however, assured the members that their jobs would be protected even after the pandemic. The fact that employees are out of work means that most companies are non-functional. It means that the profit margin of very many companies will go significantly low. The consumer behavior of most companies has been negatively affected.

Stunning economic fallout

The governor plans to open the economy of the city as soon as it is deemed safe: not at the risk of peoples’ health. It was after statistics from Nevada Casino Gaming Revenue showed that a total of $ 11.59 billion were made over the last 12 months. Out of this amount, casinos give a 6.75% tax. The tax is more than $782 that is generated from gaming to the national revenue. With the pandemic, the gaming industries have gone low, and the state is now experiencing a severe economic fallout. The statistics also explains that the economy is experiencing a loss in tax revenue. The more the epidemic continues, the more the economy becomes depressed.

How to survive

At such a time, the only way that gamers can survive is through opting for online gaming. Gamers can opt for online gaming and gambling and still be able to make real money. There are very many online sites that allow free membership and offer you wonderful game experiences like online blackjack and roulette. Currently, there are no federal laws against online gaming, for as long as you place your wager on a site in the United States. You can search online and find out what the top online gaming sites that will give you back real money.

Conclusion

It is not the end of online gambling. Even though gaming facilities have been closed down, online gambling is still on. Online gambling sites have been asked to continue with their operations as they are legally obliged to entertain their customers.
