SNCF: the company increases its TGV Max Active subscription by 10%

After being voted best customer service of the year, SNCF once again sent an email to its customers, this time to tell them bad news. Subscribers to the TGV Max Actif service were warned on Thursday of a 10% increase by the railway company: “From February 1, 2024, the monthly payments for your Max Actif subscription will be increased by 10%, regardless of the date of 'anniversary of your subscription.'

If this subscription allows you to make “two to three return trips per week” from Monday to Thursday on a TGV line, “Max active” customers are also affected by an increase in prices. They will therefore have to pay 5% more to make “four to five return trips per week” from Monday to Sunday. In total, 20,000 customers, all offers combined, are affected by these increases, notes Le Parisien.

Concretely, a TGV Max Actif subscription in second class for a Paris-Lyon journey will increase from 360 to 396 euros. Same observation for traveling between the capital and Reims, with an increase from 312 to 343 euros. On average, a second class journey will cost 18 euros (compared to 16.5 euros today) and 16 euros with a Max Active (compared to 15 euros), “while a classic ticket costs between 40 and 45 euros on average,” underlines the SNCF. Note that for 85% of the customers concerned, their subscriptions are financed at least 50% by their companies.

“A price change is necessary in a context of very strong development of uses linked to teleworking”, justifies the management of SNCF Voyageurs to the daily newspaper. Despite these increases, “the cost of travel remains advantageous with these subscriptions. We are also limiting the price increase to subscriptions valid in 2nd class, where capacity constraints are the strongest, to offer customers the possibility of subscribing to a 1st class subscription, without increase, for the most comfortable travel experience. pleasant”, completes the company.
