The government announced on Friday the surprise appointment of the former director of Customs Rodolphe Gintz as director general of infrastructure, transport and mobility (DGITM), reporting to Minister Clément Beaune, whom he knows well. He will take office on January 2, 2024, replacing Thierry Coquil who will only have held this position for thirteen months.

He was then director general of Customs and indirect rights between 2017 and 2019.

Rodolphe Gintz's mission will be to “accelerate the implementation of ecological planning in the field of mobility,” his supervisory bodies, the Ministries of Ecological Transition and Transport, indicated in a press release.

In conjunction with the mobility organizing authorities, local authorities and transport operators, it must in particular “contribute to the emergence of new service offers in terms of low-carbon transport, paying particular attention to everyday transport”. “I have known for a long time the commitment of Rodolphe Gintz,” underlined Minister Delegate for Transport Clément Beaune, “and I know I can count on his determination to accelerate, with all the DGITM teams (...) as well as field stakeholders, the implementation of ecological planning in transport.
