This was one of the announcements from Emmanuel Macron's conference on January 16. It is now taking shape: the doubling of deductibles on medicines, paramedical procedures, medical transport and participation in consultations and biology examinations. The government has thus initiated “consultations linked to the procedure for publishing regulatory texts”, indicate Bercy and the Ministry of Health this Monday. The objective is to implement the measure on franchises at the end of March and that on fixed contributions “by the beginning of June”.
Concretely, the deductibles will reach 1 euro on boxes of medicines and paramedical procedures. The flat-rate contribution will now amount to 2 euros for doctors' procedures and consultations, medical biology examinations and analyses, and it is increased to 4 euros for medical transport. “These amounts had not been revalued since their creation, in 2008 and 2004,” specify the ministries.

The system will not concern “minors, women who benefit from maternity insurance” and “beneficiaries of complementary solidarity health insurance”, recalls the executive. As for the annual ceiling set at 50 euros for people affected by a serious pathology, it is maintained.
“To say that we are going to go from 0.50 to 1 euro” per box of medicines, “I don’t have the feeling that we are committing a terrible crime, but I think that it creates responsibility and that it is a good measure », Estimated the head of state. And he added that “medicine, care, medications don’t cost anything”, while the social protection system “already takes care of a lot, almost everything”.
The measure should bring in 800 million euros over one year, according to government estimates.
