A speech without announcements, those close to the President of the Republic had warned. Emmanuel Macron's wishes to the French, recorded from the terrace of the Élysée, were however followed by 9.15 million viewers (excluding news channels) this Sunday, December 31. This is barely less than last year (9.24 million viewers excluding news channels).
In detail, it is mainly on TF1 (3.76 million) and France 2 (3.38 million) that viewers listened to the Head of State praise his 2023 reforms - pensions and immigration, in particular - and promise a “civic rearmament” and a “French vintage” for 2024, with the Olympic Games in their sights.
On M6, the speech was followed by 1.22 million viewers. On France 3, there were only 790,000, half as many as last year.
