Casino: two children send a letter to Emmanuel Macron to “save” their parents’ work

Santa Claus is changing his face and it is now Emmanuel Macron's turn to receive letters from children. Amine and Yasmine, eight years old, wrote to the President of the Republic to “save” the work of their parents, both Casino employees, reports France Bleu Saint-Étienne Loire.

On December 18, these two employees learned, like 49,998 employees, of the sale of the 313 supermarkets and hypermarkets of the Casino brand to Intermarché and Auchan. “[My son] heard me discussing with my colleagues on the telephone about the fact [that they] would perhaps be received by Bruno Le Maire and therefore my son wanted to meet the President of the Republic to tell him that he is extremely sad about what is happening,” confides Abida, Amine’s mother, who has worked for the Casino group for 24 years.

Abida then advises him to write a letter, with the daughter of a work colleague: “The two of them wrote several things for a week. They crossed out, started again, etc. And it’s really a letter that was written by two eight-year-old children in their own words.” For Amine, “it’s the president who will save Casino. Let’s hope that the letter to the President of the Republic has the same effect as for Santa Claus,” smiles Abida.

Once the letter was written, it passed from hand to hand, first to the Renaissance deputy for the Loire, Quentin Bataillon, who then transmitted it “directly” to Emmanuel Macron on December 18, during negotiations with Bercy. According to the MP, the President of the Republic “was able to consult the mail” and “the approach touched him”.
