Taylor Swift breaks Elvis Presley's record with 68 weeks at the top of the charts

Taylor Swift surpasses Elvis Presley. The American singer, named personality of the year 2023 by Time magazine, sees one of her albums at the top of the Billboard 200 ranking of the most listened to and sold albums for the 68th cumulative week since the start of her career, announces the magazine this December 31. A record for a solo artist, previously held by the King, with 67 weeks.

His latest album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), released at the end of the year, will be in its fifth (non-consecutive) week at first place in the ranking at the start of 2024. A chart which adds to the eleven weeks in number 1 of Fearless in 2008 and 2009, eight weeks of Folklore in 2020 and 2021, seven weeks of Red in 2012 and 2013... In total, 13 of his albums have been number one in the Billboard 200.

However, there is still a way to go before beating the absolute record for weeks at the top of the ranking, held by the Beatles, with a cumulative record of 132 weeks. At just 34 years old, the “country girl” still has a great career ahead of her to achieve this.
