Snoop Dogg cancels concerts in support of Hollywood strike

Like many stars, Snoop Dogg showed his support for the actors and screenwriters on strike. The rapper had planned to take the stage at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 20 and 21. It was the occasion for the star to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his first album Doggystyle, which includes Murder what the case, Ain't no fun or Who I am. The American artist had planned two new dates, with the arrival of exceptional guests such as rapper Dr. Dre and conductor Derrick Hodge. Snoop Dogg shared the news on his social media. "We regret to inform you that due to the ongoing strike and the uncertainty of its end, we must cancel the show at the Hollywood Bowl."

"We continue to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters at the WGA (screenwriters' union, editor's note) and SAG-AFTRA (actors' union, editor's note) during this difficult time and we hope that the AMPTP (which represents the television and film producers, editor's note) will return to the negotiating table with a REAL proposal and that we can all return to work, ”added the artist.

The two Snoop Dogg concerts were originally scheduled to take place on June 27 and 28 in Los Angeles. The strike in the world of cinema had caused their postponement to October 20 and 21, new dates again canceled. The screenwriters have been on strike since May, demanding among other things salary increases as well as guarantees against artificial intelligence. On July 14, they were joined by 160,000 players who also demand regulation of AI but also better income from streaming platforms.

On July 25, Hollywood stars like Bryan Cranston, Jessica Chastain and Chloë Grace Moretz showed their support for the striking actors by taking part in the SAG-AFTRA actors' union demonstration organized in Times Square. Actor Dwayne Johnson has donated at least $1 million to the actors union according to Variety.
