One Last Dream for the Road: Alice in the Land of Human Horrors

Small laughs break out in the Jean-Tardieu room. The public discovers Helena Noguerra, eyes closed, her head on a pillow, lying on a huge bed covered with white sheets (Emmanuel Clolus). Lio's sister will share her restless nights through the character of Iléna (herself), plunging into an unknown world where feelings struggle to express themselves. The singer-actress is the author and heroine of A Last Dream for the Road, a personal show, "an almost biographical fable", a horrifying and funny tale. Catherine Schaub benevolently stages a kind of Alice in the land of human horrors.

Because Iléna meets rabbits, a strange butterfly and a fairy (Romain Brau) who has no powers except to stop electro music. She is married to a prince whom she annoys (Pierre Notte, always at ease in the quirky register). She feels tired and wants to end her life. His two brothers are worried, but his mother, queen of a distant universe (Christiane Cohendy, unexpected), does not feel concerned and encourages him...

Helena Noguerra talks about freedom, unconventional loves, failed filial relationships and everything that goes wrong in life. Alternately nuptial couch, ocean or boxing ring, the bed, which occupies almost the entire stage of the Jean-Tardieu room, who would have appreciated this UFO work, welcomes his nightmares and hallucinations. The 50-year-old could make her own the famous song interpreted by Alain Bashung: “Madame dreams of atomizers/And cylinders so long/That they are the only ones/Who fill her with happiness. »

Iléna dreams of misfortune. His dreamlike wanderings take him into the past. His mother is omnipresent, but shows him no sign of tenderness. Iléna does try to survive without it, but her heart isn't in it. “ I dreamed too hard. I went to territories that were too big, too beautiful for me,” she laments.

Helena Noguerra exploits the palette of her talents, plays, composes, sings and dances accompanied by the discreet guitarist Philippe Eveno. The one who is also the composer of Philippe Katerine is a faithful actress. Christiane Cohendy and Pierre Notte are less "used" on set. Romain Brau demonstrates that he is a real chameleon. Noticed in the film LesCrevettes pailletées and in the cabaret Madame Arthur, the artist adapts to the proposal offered to him. The more whimsical she is, the more he blossoms. Here, it is also very well written.

A last dream for the road, at the Théâtre du Rond-Point (Paris 8th), until June 24. Res. : 01 44 95 98 21 and www.theatredurondpoint.fr.
