Omar Sy bares his heart in his book-interview Come on, let's talk

“A poisoned chalice? That's kind of the definition of success. It's beautiful, it's good, but if you end up believing in it, if you think you're the best, your chances evaporate, and you're dead", here are the words chosen by Omar Sy to describe his incredible success, - and also the pangs of sudden notoriety -, in the seventh art. The French actor, hero of Intouchables with François Cluzet, honored with the César for best actor, has just published on his Instagram account the black and white cover, Come on, let's talk, of the book-interview that he co-signed with the Nouvel Obs journalist Elsa Vigoureux at Albin Michel.

In this work, designed as a series of exchanges, lively like the temperament of the famous French actor, he looks back on his journey as an acrobat. To Elsa Vigoureux's question: "What is your ambition then?", he responds with touching frankness, "to have fun, to be happy while doing my job as an actor (...). I realize that this profession, which was not for me at first, is finally familiar to me. It brings me back to my roots, to my culture, to my education, where stories, narrative, are central. I find myself there.”

This 288-page book, written after three years of interviews in the form of a confession without boasting, is due to be released in booksellers on April 24. Its die-hard fans who are most eager to discover it can already pre-order it on Amazon. They will be the first to discover the dangers that await the actors adored by the public. On the social network Omar Sy gave a preview quote from his biography. She says a lot about her philosophy and her decline in the face of too much fame: “I was caressed, everyone said yes to everything, I could have gone under. Sometimes I didn't want to hear all that anymore, it was too much. It smelled like a trap. Getting some fresh air was the solution.”
