Mission impossible manages to put almost all the critics in agreement

The new adventures of Ethan Hunt in Mission impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1, in theaters since Wednesday, have blown away critics almost unanimously, starting with Le Figaro. Still carried by Tom Cruise, who himself performs impressive stunts, the seventh installment of the spy saga, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, features our hero and his team facing a formidable weapon equipped with artificial intelligence.

"We are quickly sucked into the frenetic pace of Dead Reckoning which keeps you going until the end of its 2h43, and which testifies to the best hours of Hollywood efficiency", greets FranceInfo. "Two hours forty-six hours of a show that hardly disarms, a few scenes of suspense or brilliantly staged action..." corroborates Le Monde. "Virtuoso, playful and romantic (...) a pure delight", qualifies Ouest France.

“A great action film, not devoid of humour”, adds Le Point, which also points to “breathtaking stunts”. Many media have expressed their admiration for the breathtaking stunts of the film. L'Humanité considers that the film was able to "elevate the stunt to an incandescent state of art". La Voix du Nord does not skimp on the praise either: “Without doubt the best you will see this year in terms of Hollywood blockbusters. On all fronts, Tom Cruise-Ethan Hunt puts himself in staggering action scenes but above all continues to write his own legend. That of an old-fashioned hero who rubs shoulders with his time”, celebrating in the process his contemporary dimension which the Parisian considers “surprising”.

CinemaTeaser says no different and manifests the same enthusiasm: "With this super-show of unstoppable craftsmanship and thrilling meta text, the Mission: Impossible franchise is a reminder of why it has soared above the competition for nearly thirty years."

Among these laudatory criticisms, the more circumspect voice of Sud Ouest rises. If the regional daily boasts "a few grandiose scenes", it also points to a "narrative that struggles to captivate over time", while wondering "if Cruise's ability to surprise us will not end, from episode to episode, by self-destruction.
