LaLiga: This is how the distribution of television income remains

The millionaire pie of television income from Spanish professional football is confirmed as the great source of business for the clubs. The billing for the commercialization of audiovisual rights has increased by 19%, without the Copa del Rey and without the effect of the Impulse Plan, to go from 1,344 million euros to 1,595 million euros since the 2016-2017 season compared to the league English, which has grown around 5% in the same period.

The figure, corresponding to the end of the 2022-2023 season, is, however, slightly lower than last year, although LaLiga considers that "it is a good figure considering that in the United Kingdom it has twice as many subscribers as football payment than Spain, 14 million compared to 6.4 million in our country". Furthermore, "the number of subscribers to OTT platforms is also more than double, 49 million compared to 21 million in Spain, as are other macroeconomic indicators such as per capita income."

The total figure after the adjustments due to the assembly agreement of the Impulso-CVC Plan remains at 1,525.10 million, of which 1,374.10 are from LaLiga EA Sports and 203.54 from LaLiga Hypermotion. In the last campaign, which was not completely affected by the agreement with the investment fund, there were 1,585.40 million, which shows that slight reduction of 3.9%.

In the detail of the distribution, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid are among the European teams with the highest amount of income from the distribution of audiovisual rights, a figure that in LaLiga has grown by 19% since the 2016-2017 season compared to the English league, which has increased around 5% in that period.

Merengues and Blaugranas are, thus, at the level of the six clubs in the English Premier League that earn the most and, together with Atlético de Madrid, the three have a figure of income from the distribution of audiovisual rights higher than that of any club in the Bundesliga German, Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1.
