End of the legal battle between Britney Spears and her father

Her father, James Parnell Spears, demanded more than two million dollars from him to compensate him for the legal fees he incurred years earlier, when his daughter was under his judicial supervision. Thursday, in Los Angeles Superior Court, an agreement was reached between the two parties. The terms and conditions remained confidential.

“Jamie is delighted that this is all over,” said Alex M. Weingarten, the lawyer for Britney Spears’ father, in a statement relayed by the New York Times. He regrets the irresponsible and specious allegations that were made against him in public.” But the man does not seem to have any remorse regarding the 13 years during which he kept his daughter under guardianship. According to him, Britney “was broke” and “had no savings.”

For his part, the singer's lawyer, Mathew S. Rosengart, affirmed that Britney Spears was “a brilliant and courageous artist”. “His desire for freedom is now truly fulfilled,” he said. As she wished, her freedom now includes the fact that she will no longer need to appear or be involved in court in this matter.”

The singer has so far not reacted on social networks, unlike in 2021, when her guardianship was lifted. At the time, she exclaimed: “I think I’m going to cry for the rest of the day! It's the best day of my life. Praise be to the Lord.”

Since Britney Spears regained control over her own life, she decided to settle the score in a book called The Woman in Me, released last fall. From her childhood in the South of the United States to her breakup with Justin Timberlake, all the stories are scrutinized.
