Eminem returns in 2024 with a new album

A long-awaited return. Tuesday March 19, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent were guests on Jimmy Kimmel's talk show. During the show, the three rappers and the presenter, among other things, parodied the medical series Grey's Anatomy and announced the arrival of a new album by Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III. The name, tracklist and release date of this project have not yet been revealed.

Although Eminem was absent from the set, he nevertheless managed to monopolize all the attention. “Let me tell you something, let me explain something to you now,” Dr. Dre told the audience. Eminem is working on his own album which will be released this year. I spoke with him and he agreed that I make the announcement here. So he has an album coming out, I have songs on it and it’s fireworks. I’m going to listen to everything tomorrow for the first time.” That same day, Eminem burst onto Hollywood Boulevard to inaugurate the star of his friend Dr. Dre, an influential American rapper and producer. Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent, his faithful collaborators, were also present.

The announcement of an album for this year delights fans of the Slim Shady singer but is not a surprise to anyone. Rumors of a new project have been circulating for several years now. In 2022, the rapper caused panic on the web, publishing a photo of himself alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, in a recording studio. In the caption of this Instagram post, just “a few guys having a good time together”. Enough to keep the fans marinating for some time before this official announcement, almost two years later.

Eminem's last studio album, Music to Be Murdered By, dates back to 2020. In 2022, the rapper also released Curtain Call II, a compilation of his best tracks since his album Relapse, released in 2009. Since then, radio silence. Or almost. Eminem made do with a few notable appearances, notably during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2022, alongside Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar. In July 2023, the rapper surprised fans, joining Ed Sheeran on stage at Ford Field in Detroit to perform Stan and Lose Yourself, two of his most listened to tracks on the platforms.
