Dua Lipa, SZA, Shania Twain... Women take center stage at the Glastonbury 2024 festival

For the first time, two of the three headliners at the British Glastonbury festival are women, Dua Lipa and SZA. The rock group Coldplay completes the podium. The organizers of the event, which is being held at the end of June in the south-west of Great Britain, wanted to repair the mistake of last year, an edition for which they mainly put forward men on the main stage.

“I've dreamed of this moment my whole life,” Dua Lipa reacted on Instagram after the announcement of her performance on the prestigious Pyramid Stage on Friday evening. The British pop star, who will release her third album in May, has promised “an unforgettable night” at Glastonbury, her “favorite place on Earth”. The singer R

The Canadian Shania Twain, known in particular for her hits Man! I Feel Like A Woman! and You're Still The One, and who has sold more than 100 million albums in his career, will be on stage on Sunday afternoon, in the coveted "Legends" slot. “There is a certain cachet associated with this niche. And I feel that there I am, I have reached this niche,” she reacted on Radio 2.

Coldplay is once again among the headliners. This will be their fifth concert on the Pyramid Stage, a record. Their first appearance was in 2002. British rapper Little Simz and Afrobeat star Burna Boy are among the other artists scheduled this year, while Idles and The National will lead the charge when it comes to rock music. LCD Soundsystem, The Last Dinner Party, Camila Cabello and Avril Lavigne are also expected. “Many other artists and attractions have yet to be announced,” according to the festival.

But it's already too late to buy tickets. Tickets for this edition were snapped up in November in less than an hour. You had to pay 355 pounds sterling and five pounds in booking fees (some 420 euros in total) to be able to pitch your tent - very often in the rain and in the mud - and enjoy the concerts of this festival, one of the best known of the world.

Since its birth in 1970, “Glasto”, which takes place in the English countryside, has seen the biggest stars in music. Among them, Metallica and Ed Sheeran in 2014, Muse and Adele in 2016 or even Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish in 2022. The 2023 edition, which welcomed groups like Artic Monkeys, Gun N' Roses and Blondie, has ended by the last British concert of Elton John's farewell tour. The 76-year-old singer received a standing ovation before sitting at the piano to begin his show. “I never thought I would ever play Glastonbury, and here I am,” he told the festival audience. It’s a very special and very emotional evening for me, because it’s perhaps my last concert in England, in Great Britain.”
