BMW Motorrad and Race, hand in hand to instruct bikers in safe driving

According to DGT data, up to June 15, 2023, 116 motorcyclists had died, 62 on weekends. If we take into account the type of road, 78% of the motorcyclists who died did so on conventional roads and of them, 57 motorcyclists died due to going off the road, a type of accident in which no other vehicle is involved and in which distraction or inappropriate speed is usually present.

With the aim of attacking the accident rate of motorcycles in terms of the expertise and skill of their users, BMW Motorrad and RACE have reached an interesting agreement for bikers, who have at least the A2 license, so that " acquire the knowledge, techniques and skills that allow them to enjoy their motorcycle in a dynamic, responsible, but above all safe way," they stated in their presentation at Madrid's Jarama Circuit.

Although for BMW Motorrad, "maximum performance, technology and safety for customers" have always been one of its priorities, these values ​​are also shared by the RACE Driving School which, focused on training, safety is one of its "basic pillars" within its strategy.

The collaboration agreement is the fruit and consequence, as the Bavarian brand itself recognizes, of the "increase and demand for two-wheeled vehicles in recent years" and motivates the start of permanent courses at the Jarama Circuit facilities. A collaboration between both entities where "all the experience and training methodology acquired in more than 40 years of existence of the RACE Driving School will be applied" and in which students and participants will enjoy a fleet of motorcycles made up of agile and intuitive ones. BMW G 31 0 R, a model suitable for an A2 driving license, the first objective permit of the initiative.

For the director of the RACE Foundation and the Madrid Jarama-RACE Circuit, Ignacio Fernández, these courses are of great importance for the motorcycle community in general and are the result of "the determined commitment of BMW Motorrad and the RACE Foundation to safety." , training and user awareness" of these two-wheeled vehicles that continue to grow within the Spanish mobile fleet.

Led by RACE Driving School instructors, the courses have three levels of increasing difficulty. The first is focused on training on the fundamentals (driving to avoid accidents, precision of gestures, balance, etc.), technique in critical braking and the famous stability line in curves. The second, on the other hand, already corresponds to an advanced level of training for solutions to critical situations such as braking with greater difficulty - on curves and slippery ground - and seeking optimization of the curve layout. Finally, the third level will be a so-called "master training" to try (and achieve as far as possible) to achieve good mastery of the motorcycle by focusing learning on braking of variable intensity and the evolution of body movements, so important in driving a motorcycle.
