"Vaccination standstill in Germany" - The current corona numbers explained for you

39,396 corona cases were reported to the RKI yesterday.

In the previous week comparison, there is a minus of 20 percent.

This is the 31st consecutive business day of a week-on-week decline.

However, the figures from Hamburg are not included. It is still unclear whether there was a reporting glitch here.

The downward trend in the number of cases is still intact.

The 7-day moving average of new cases falls to the lowest level since June 7 today.

At Christmas 2021, Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that he wanted to increase the corona vaccination rate to 80 percent by the end of January 2022.

The goal has not yet been achieved - and given the current situation, it will not be achieved anytime soon.

At the beginning of the year, the vaccination rate - the proportion of those who had been vaccinated for the first time in the total population - was 75.5 percent.

By April 1, it continued to rise slowly, reaching 77.7 percent.

On July 1st we were at 77.9 percent. And here we are today, September 1st.

A significant proportion of those who have not yet been vaccinated are children and young people. But a good 13 percent of adults have not yet been vaccinated.

And hardly anything is happening:

21,515 corona vaccinations have been registered on average over the past 7 days.

The vaccination campaign has thus reached a low point that has not been reached since December 2020.

Of the vaccinations last week, 15 percent were first boosters and 78 percent were second boosters.

90 corona deaths were reported to the RKI yesterday.

That's 26 fewer than a week ago.

In total, we are at 390 deceased in the current week.
