Russian Daniil Medvedev reached the semi-finals of the ATP tournament in Dubai on Thursday at the expense of Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, thus confirming his good start to the season.
Medvedev, 4th in the world, did not waste much time to eliminate his Spanish opponent 6-2, 6-3, in 1h17 of play and on his first match point.
He will face for a place in the final the Pole Hubert Hurkacz or the French Ugo Humbert, opposed a little later.
The Russian continues his season on a positive note, after reaching the final of the Australian Open at the end of January, beaten by the Italian Jannik Sinner. Furthermore, he is the title holder in Dubai.
He largely dominates his face-to-face meetings with Davidovich Fokina, since he has won all four meetings played against each other.
The other semi-final in Dubai will pit Alexander Bublik against Andrey Rublev, who both benefited from the retirements of their respective opponents, Jiri Lehecka and Sebastian Korda.
