After his semi-final this weekend at the Singapore Smash, the most prestigious tournament of the season, French table tennis player Félix Lebrun is now in 5th place in the world rankings published Tuesday by World Table Tennis.

The youngest of the Lebrun brothers, aged 17, moved up one place to reach the best ranking of his career, despite his defeat in the semi-final in Singapore against the new world No.1 Wang Chuqin.

He becomes the 3rd youngest player to enter the world Top 5, behind the Japanese Tomokazu Harimoto and the Chinese Fan Zhendong, multiple world champion and Olympic champion in Tokyo.

First European in the ranking, he is ahead of four Chinese players.

Félix Lebrun is the first French player to join the Top 5 in 29 years, and only the fourth in history after René Roothooft (1952), Jacques Secutin (1976-1977) and Jean-Philippe Gatien (1991-1995).
