Jürgen Klopp was not in a playful mood on Sunday evening, following Liverpool's incredible defeat against Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup (4-3). A Danish journalist interviewed the German coach after the match. “Normally, intensity is an integral part of your game. Why did it become so difficult in overtime?,” asked the journalist.
“That’s a bit of a stupid question,” Klopp retorted dryly. “Especially when you see us play so often, or you might never see us and say, 'How can they still have resources?'” Cap screwed on his head, the 56-year-old coach continued: “We played I don’t know how many matches. I don’t know how many Manchester United played... It’s sport.” And added, looking the journalist in the eyes: “I’m really disappointed by that question, but you must have thought it was a good one.”
Klopp then cut the interview short, not without a final acidic message to the journalist. “You’re obviously not in great shape. I'm not in the mood for this. [...] What is your problem ? What do you want ?" In post since 2015 at the English club, Klopp has already announced his departure at the end of the season. Liverpool are 2nd in the Premier League, tied on points with leader Arsenal, and still in contention in the Europa League.
