Ligue 2: Auxerre disposes of Bordeaux and takes the lead in the ranking

Thanks to this success, AJA, undefeated in Ligue 2 for two months, doubles Angers, dominated Friday in Bastia (2-0), and has 41 points, one more than the previous leader. Bordeaux is in 15th place with 22 points. Yet deprived of Gideon Mensah, Elisha Owusu and Lassine Sinayoko who are competing in the CAN, the Burgundians approached this clash between former French champions of the 1990s without certainty.

But they made the match easy with an ideal start: Florian Ayé, already a double scorer in the first leg, put AJA on track at the conclusion of a beautiful collective movement initiated after a high recovery, sanctioning a restart risky Gironde defense (26th). With a hint of success, Christophe Pélissier's men could have twice found the fault much earlier (12th and 20th).

Riding this wave, the Burgundians did not release the pressure. They even thought they would double the bet by Hein at the end of a crazy sequence which saw Bordeaux captain Yohan Barbet save his team in quick succession (42nd, 43rd). After this alert, the Girondins, in one of their rare breakthroughs in the opposing camp, equalized through Zan Vipotnik, author of a superb whipped volley which went to die in the small net (45th).

While Albert Riera's players had done the hardest part, the own goal just after returning from the locker room scored by Danylo Ignatenko seemed to cut them off, especially since this twist of fate came without any real danger (47th). If Auxerre then managed its affair well, a cross header from the same Ayé sealed the fate of this match which the Bordelais were never able to win (88th).
