Team USA will look good at the 2024 Olympics. USA Basketball had already unveiled a group of 41 elements a few weeks ago, in preparation for the next Olympics (July 26-August 11), in France. The Athletic site ensures that LeBron James (L.A. Lakers), Stephen Curry (Golden State) and Kevin Durant (Phoenix) will be at the Olympics barring injury. The US coach, Steve Kerr, will also be able to count on Jayson Tatum (Boston) and the Cameroonian pivot Joel Embiid (Philadelphia), who obtained the American passport after obtaining the French. The latter is currently sidelined due to injury but he should, a priori, be operational to set foot on the courts of Villeneuve d'Ascq and Paris. In fact, he hopes to return to the 76ers before the end of the regular season.
Other names keep coming back, those of Devin Booker (Phoenix) and Jrue Holiday (Boston). Still according to the same source, the American staff is thinking strongly of two young talents who were hard at work during the last World Cup, Anthony Edwards (Minnesota) and Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana). If so, nine of the 12 available places would already be reserved. A priori, Team USA would aim in particular to gain size, with Bam Adebayo (Miami) and Anthony Davis (L.A. Lakers) as favorites. The final selection should in any case be known between the end of April and the beginning of May, during the NBA play-offs. The draw for the Paris Games will be made on March 19.
