The christmas present mystery solved: Opened the package from ex-girlfriend after 47 years

There is a lot of water in the creek, since the 17-year-old Adrian Pearce in 1971, was dropped by his first real girlfriend,15-year-old Vicki Allen, shortly before christmas.

His heart was crushed, and Adrian never forgot ex-boyfriend. Neither the christmas present, as she had managed to give him, the day she said goodbye. He swore the same day a solemn oath that he would never open the package.

In the 47 years that have passed, the canadian man took the package up each and every christmas. The first many years did Adrian the package under the tree, but since he was married, did his wife and a ban on the outlandish habit, and instead he had to settle with taking the package out from the drawer every christmas and look wistfully at it.

Last year in december it was a melancholy christmas story told in several major canadian media and spread to most of the world. It led to the fact that Adrian made contact with Vicki via Facebook, and now it's finally been revealed what hid in the small, square package, which he had hidden for so many years.

Last Thursday, met Adrian and Vicki at a bar in St. Alta, and in front of more than a hundred people was the package opened, but not before Vicki had stuck a little to his old flame.

- I think it is a long time to bear a grudge. It is actually pretty worrying. But I'm glad he did it, said Vicki with a smile, before she opened the package and revealed a small book with the title 'Love is ...'.

In the years that passed, had Vicki even forgotten all about the package, and she really had bought, but she remembers, however, why she dropped her boyfriend shortly before christmas. The day she bought the package, she met a young man in the shopping mall, and they had kissed.

Vicki and Adrian had finally opened the package.

As it was, Vicki, opened the package, gave Adrian his promise to himself. He told in connection with the package-opening, that he had also saved it for sentimental reasons:

- the Package reminded me of times and last days that were innocent. At the time where the future was completely open in front of me. When I looked at it every year, it brought me back to when I was 17 years old and innocent.

adrian's wife for 40 years, Victoria, never quite understood her husband:

- It was just a thing he refused to let go of. Like someone was hiding their yndlingsbamse from their childhood, she explains to CBC News.
